HIDDEN GEMS

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Bonne Bell cosmetics are not just for teens anymore. The Eye Style Shadow Box in Backstage Beauty Browns holds 4 shimmery, rich colors which will compliment any eye color. The individual colors in this quad are soft enough for daytime wear or can be layered for a more dramatic look.

The quality of these shadows is amazing and provide long-lasting wear when applied wet or dry. My favorite colors in this quad are the top, which is a dark brown (perfect as a liner) and the third, which is a shimmery, champagne/taupe color (looks great on the browbone).

The Eye Style Shadow Box retails for $4 or less and comes in a total of 8 different, colorful quads.

DID YOU KNOW?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Did you know your favorite scented-shampoo also doubles as a hand soap?

Whether you prefer clear or creamy shampoos, either will lather well and leave hands lightly scented. You can refill an old hand soap bottle or purchase empty, decorative bottles to match your decor. This is also a perfect way to use up some of those shampoos that didn’t work so well for your hair.

My favorites are:

Suave

  • Fresh Mountain Strawberry
  • Cucumber Melon Splash
  • Juicy Green Apple

VO5

  • Grapefruit Mandarin Splash
  • Passion Fruit Smoothie
  • Blueberries and Cream

Suave or VO5 shampoos offer a wide variety of scents for less than a $1.

Garden of Eden

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Eden Body Works is the brain-child of Jasmine Lawrence who was driven by a need for natural hair care. Jasmine started her company at the tender age of 13 and now contracts with major companies such as Whole Foods and Walmart.

This natural-care line includes products for hair, body and home. Peppermint oil and jojoba are the basis of the hair care line, while the body line soothes with glycerin soaps and aromatic bath salts. Jasmine has also created soy candles in 8 varieties, 4 of which can be used as a massage oil once they are burned.
You can sample the Peppermint Mini-Pack for $10.99 or the Jojoba Mini-Pack for $15.99. Both packs contain 1oz sizes of the shampoo, conditioner, hair oil and hair milk. Both lines are suitable for all hair types.

Catch the Wave

Mark recently introduced their Gorgeous Eye Trios and they really live up to their name! These little compacts hold 3 shimmery, rich colors perfect for summer wear. I purchased Aqua Wave; there something about blues and greens that puts me in that summer frame-of-mind.

The colors in each compact are perfect together or buy all 3 to mix and match for your own unique summer look.

Gorgeous Eye Trios are $7 each and Mark is offering cute sunglasses for only $5 with this purchase.

Mineral Mayhem

Monday, May 26th, 2008

After reading some great reviews for My Minerals Bath and Body, I decided to try the site out for myself. I could not be happier! The site’s owner Lisa is just as sweet as everyone has said and very helpful in recommending products.

Since I don’t do swatches on my site (I’m too busy looking at everyone else’s), I’ll post pics of some of the colors I received this past weekend. These pics are the ones you’ll see when you order from the My Minerals site. I was up past midnight playing around with everything Lisa sent!

These pics really don’t do the colors justice because these three are really rich, vibrant colors. The Fountain Showers is pure glitter, while the Sugarpeach Beige and Marine Blue are shimmery, almost metallic colors.

Lisa also has her own blog where you can view swatches and receive product and promotion updates.

Lisa is offering 3 gram jars in sets of 3 for $8.99. You pick the colors!

DID YOU KNOW?

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Did you know prevention of eye wrinkles should start in your 20’s? Many ladies start using eye potions when they see visible damage, but by then it is already too late. Keeping the eye area moisturized and well-protected at an earlier age is great way to ward off preventable damage.

DHC’s Eye Bright is a gel that is lightweight and suitable for all skin types. I prefer gel eye products because there is less clogging of the pores around the eye area, which can lead to those tiny white bumps (milia) that many women have. Cream formulas should be left to the older women who are also experiencing dryness around the eyes.

Eye Bright contains caffeine which helps to rid eye-puffiness. The gel is cooling when applied and sinks into the skin quickly. Natural ingredients also included are licorice root and cucumber, which are known for their soothing and calming effects.

Eye Bright is on sale for $15 for a 0.52 oz tube until 6-30.
