Amuse Me

Friday, May 9th, 2008

I had to share these cute little glosses from Amuse. They are an unbelievable value for the price! They are packed with Vitamin-E and are actually thicker than some of the pricier brands I own. These glosses are high on shine and taste great. The Blueberry and Cherry are my favs, but Amuse offers a total of 9 different flavors. Each gloss comes with a little flower actually tucked inside the tube.

These glosses are a bargain at $1.00 each. Pick up a few at Cherry Culture and while you’re there check out the glitter version too!

2 Girls and Some Lotion

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Now I don’t know where you thought I was going with that title, but this really is a review about 2 girls and some…..scrub, but that didn’t sound as catchy. I was online last week, clicking around and came upon this great company, Chloe and Jane. God bless Google.

This company started with a handmade scrub given as a gift from one friend to another. The product lines come in 3 scents: Lavender Sage, Citrus Chamomile and First Bloom. All 3 scents come in lotion, body wash, body butter, hand wash and sugar polish.

I received my order in about a week. The sugar polish was out of the box and on my elbows in less than 2 minutes. Pure heaven. The scrub seems light and soft when scooped out, but once it hits the skin it exfoliates so well.

All of these products are packaged so cute and come with funny quips written by the company’s founders Wendy and Laura. My order also came with a handwritten thank you note. Now how nice is that?

You can currently try a sampler set of Wonder Lotion or Body Wash for $10. Each set contains 2oz sizes of all 3 scents.

Don’t forget to sign Chloe and Jane’s Little Black Book to be eligible for all kinds of great promotions.

THE SAME 5 QUESTIONS

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Some beauty blogs just inspire you. Spoiled Pretty was actually my first introduction to the world of beauty blogging. Spoiled Pretty keeps you updated with the newest and best beauty products out there. Another plus I love is the weekly giveaways! Get to know a little about Daneen, one of my favorite beauty bloggers…

MM: Your purse is stolen. What beauty item will you replace first?

DANEEN: This actually happened to me a few years ago. While backpacking through Europe, my then-boyfriend (now my hubby) was supposed to be watching my purse while I went to the restroom in the Madrid train station. Well, when I returned to where he was sitting, he was engrossed in a magazine and my bag was nowhere to be found. Some slick thief had made off with my cash, camera, and passport…but it was my limited-edition MAC cheek/lip stain that I was really upset about losing. Now, if someone stole my purse, I would quickly replace my Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick. It’s a conditioning stick that can be used all over the body and locks in moisture for hours. I use it as a lip balm and it smells just like a frothy black and white milkshake!

MM: What high-end beauty product are you saving your pennies for?

DANEEN: I love T3 hair tools. I already own the Featherweight Dryer and the Medium Duality Flat Iron. Their products are pretty pricey, but these hot tools are so gentle on hair that they are a totally worthwhile investment. I covet the T3 curling irons, so that’ll be my next big beauty expenditure.

MM: What one hair product can you not live without?

DANEEN: I am so indecisive. I really can’t choose just one. I’ve been using Elasta QP DPR 11 Conditioner for over ten years – and it’s never let me down. It costs about $8 and is worth its weight in gold. Nothing makes my hair softer or more manageable. My other hair must-have is Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment. You can use it as a deep conditioning treatment, leave-in conditioner, or shine enhancer. It’s amazing.

MM: What color polish is on your toes right now?

DANEEN: My little piggies are currently wearing OPI Cajun Shrimp, a fiery coral. It’s the perfect spring/summer for tips and toes.

MM: What was your inspiration to blog?

DANEEN: After I got married in June 2007, I found myself with a good amount of free time on my hands. I didn’t have any more wedding planning to do –so I was looking for another artistic outlet. Creative writing has always been a hobby of mine, and I love cosmetics like no one you’ve ever met (I call myself a “Cosmetics Connoisseur”) – so everything sort of came together. And voila…you have Spoiled Pretty.

Thank you Daneen!

Turning Japanese

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Sometimes you stumble upon a company by accident and wonder how you ever lived without them. This describes perfectly how I feel about DHC. This Japan-based company offers the most unique and natural products you’ll find anywhere. I first learned of them when I won a free lipstick a few years ago and I’ve been faithful ever since.

DHC has pleased me once again by introducing their Washing Powder for the face. This cute little bottle holds 1.7oz of pure bliss. Add water to the powder and it turns into a creamy foam. This wash is perfect for all skin types because it won’t strip pores and it lightly exfoliates thanks to papaya. The powder form makes this perfect for travel since there is no worry of leaking.

You can grab your own Washing Powder for $6.25 (through 5-31). DHC also lets you choose 4 free multi-use samples with every order.

Dō itashi mashite. (You’re welcome) !

Lemon Zest

Monday, May 5th, 2008

I’m a sucker for any product that smells like baked goods and this line takes me back to my kiddie days. Snack time took on a whole new meaning when powered lemon cookies were served.
Mark (by Avon) has captured the lemony goodness of those cookies perfectly. The creamy smell of sugar and lemons fills the air and leaves your skin with a subtle scent of vanilla.

This line includes a dry oil mist, moisture milk, scent mist, shower wash, and body butter.

Use code “WINTER815″ to receive free shipping on any $15 order (Expires 5-31-08).

Or just call your Avon Rep. You do have her on speed-dial, right?

I Heart Mom

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

Truth be told, I can always suggest great beauty buys, yet can never seem to figure out what to get my Mom for Mother’s Day. Honestly, the woman has everything.
Perfume is the gift that every Mother will love and let me suggest a few new ones out this year.

For the Classy Mom:
Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Light Breeze

For the Young-at-Heart Mom:
Baby Phat Fabulosity

For the Natural Mom:
Aquolina Pink Sugar

All of these great scents can be found at Ulta and currently they are offering a cute tote bag with any $30 fragrance purchase.

Keep the bag for yourself, mom doesn’t have to know!

HIDDEN GEMS

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

I’m asked all of the time what I use to keep my curly hair frizz-free. Believe it or not, volumizing products are the key. Volumizing products actually provide more hold and staying power than products geared toward curly hair.

The Aussie line has become part of my Holy Grail. The Aussome Volume Gel has made me move my expensive gel (Sorry Mr. Paul Mitchell) to the back of the cabinet. This gel leaves my hair shiny throughout the day and holds well in the worst humidity. The fruity smell is another plus with this product.

You can pick up Aussome Volume Gel for $3 or less at most retailers.
