Pay it Forward

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I’ve mentioned before how I love companies who share their good fortune with others. I believe no matter little you may have, there is always something you can share with someone else. Some of our favorite cosmetics companies are reaching out to offer help in so many ways. I’ve listed some of my favorite companies and their causes below. Remember, helping is beautiful!

~PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics: Gives all of its after-tax distributable profits to women’s health advocacy and urgent human rights issues.

~M·A·C: All proceeds from the sale of Viva Glam lipsticks goes to support the M·A·C AIDS Fund.

~Stila Cosmetics: Donates products to the Look Good…Feel Better program, which helps women living with cancer maintain their confidence during their battle.

~Avon: Donates products to the 2bMe program, which offers beauty and fashion advice to teens living with cancer.

Tropical Coconut Footworks is currently on sale, buy 1, get one for $.99!

How have you been pampering your feet this summer? Leave a comment to be entered to win a duo of Tropical Coconut Cooling Foot Spray and Foot Scrub. One random winner will be chosen Wednesday, 7-23!

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know hair is dead once it reaches the surface of the scalp?

Only the root of the hair is alive, so here are some tips to help you grow a beautiful, healthy, mane!

~Take a multivitamin. Most multivitamins contain nutrients such as vitamin B6, folic acid, silica, and zinc, which are all essential for healthy hair. If your stomach can tolerate it, try taking pre-natal vitamins. I have noticed a difference in hair, skin, and nails with this extra boost of nutrients.

~Eat foods rich in protein. Hair is made of protein, so why not give it what it needs? Eggs, fish, nuts, and soy are healthy ways to implement protein into your diet.

~Ease up on the bad habits (notice I didn’t stay stop!). Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and prescription meds, stall hair growth if used in excess.

~Get plenty of rest and minimize stress. Our bodies need downtime to rejuvenate and repair from the daily abuse we put them through. Scalp massages are a great way to alleviate stress and stimulate hair growth.

Follow these tips and good hair days are ahead!

If there was a way to create a scratch-and-sniff review, this would be the one time I would use it! Coconut Lemongrass Creme from bodymoose is the ultimate in body pampering. This rich, luscious creme is chock full of natural ingredients such as raspberry seed oils, honey, and sweet almond.

I applied this lotion before bed and the scent of citrus and coconut was still present in the morning! The creme sinks into skin easily and leaves no greasy after feel. bodymoose has a large selection of natural products, all of which come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Coconut Lemongrass Creme is $8 for 4oz and shipping is $3.95 for a limited time on any size order.

THE SAME 5 QUESTIONS

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

I visit many beauty blogs each day and there is one that is always the first stop on my daily rounds. Askmewhats covers it all, from beauty products to great restaurants. Nikki, author of the site, has a wonderful attitude that shines through in all of her postings. Get to know more about Nikki, one of my favorite beauty bloggers

MM: Your purse is stolen. What beauty item will you replace first?

NIKKI: I would definitely buy a Lip balm first! I cannot live a day without one as my lips chaps, cracks, (you name all the lip no no’s? I got them all in one day if I forgot to apply lip balm)

MM: What high-end beauty product are you saving your pennies for?

NIKKI: I am saving up for Paul & Joe Foundation! It’s the best for me and I’ve used this to a lot of people and it works for them too!

MM: What one hair product can you not live without?

NIKKI: Shampoo!

MM: What color polish is on your toes right now?

NIKKI: Ohh, it’s orange, yellow, red and black (nail art)

MM: What was your inspiration to blog?

NIKKI: My inspiration to blog is knowing that some people out there would get a tip or 2 from my own experiences on products that I have used. I love it when people email me to tell me that they’ve been looking for a certain product but are quite “shy” to ask anyone about it, and they’ve found answers in my blog. That really can make me smile. No matter how tired I am, I love to write and know that someone /somewhere out there, there will be someone I’m helping out…even in my own little ways :)

Thank you Nikki!

I’ve Got it Nailed

E.L.F. Nail Polish in Berry Pink is the perfect pink for everyone. It’s deep, raspberry hue is glammed up with a hint of silver sparkle. 2 coats provides full coverage and high shine. E.L.F. polishes are Toluene and Formaldehyde free, which means no more funky smell!

These are some of the fastest-drying polishes I’ve tried, so there’s less waiting in between coats. The cute drip design is actually part of the packaging, but can be removed for those who prefer a classier-looking bottle.

E.L.F. Nail Polish in Berry Pink (along with 17 other colors) is a steal at $1 each!

Makeup Masala readers can use code “Radio” to take 1/2 off orders (up to a total of $7.50)!
