DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know rubbing your wrists together after applying perfume ruins the scent?

Rubbing wrists together actually flattens the three layers (notes) of perfume together. This changes the original order in which the fragrance is meant to be enjoyed.

Let’s face it, most perfumes are pricey, so here are a few more tips to help you get the most from your investment:

~Always try to store perfume in the original box, in a dark place. Sun and heat can alter the scent of your fragrance.

~Apply fragrance to moisturized skin. Dry skin does not absorb the perfume as well.

~“Seal-in” your fragrance by layering with soaps and lotions of the same scent.

~Store fragrance in its original bottle. Transferring to another decanter will allow air to come in contact with the fragrance, therefore possibly altering its scent.

~Spray a light mist into hair. Hair is said to hold scent better than skin.

So Fresh, So Clean

Bath and Body Works Rainkissed Leaves offers a newly fresh, crisp scent. For those not into smelling like fruit baskets or flower shops, this is sure to be your favorite! This clean scent is borderline unisex, with notes of fresh cut grass, watercress and musk.

Some scents are made for summer use; Rainkissed Leaves provides a light veil of fragrance and doesn’t turn overbearing when the heat rises. This is truly a refreshing addition to the Bath and Body Works family of fragrances.

Bath and Body Works Rainkissed Leaves is currently on sale, 2/$15 or 5/$30.

Scrub-a-Dub

I love shopping with indie companies. They offer some of the best unknown products and usually offer exceptional customer service. Thanks to Janine on Sparkle Shelf, Pure Bliss Essentials is my newly-found favorite! I recently purchased their Foaming Bath Scrub in Lime Sugar Supreme and have seriously had to stop myself from using it everyday!

This HIGHLY scented scrub is made from a blend of Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Patchouli, Jasmine, Yarrow, Vitamin E and Salt (per the Pure Bliss site). The scrub is not harsh to the skin and once rinsed, the wonderful limey fragrance is left behind. Pure Bliss Essentials offers over 20 unique fragrances for their products. In case of sensitive noses or allergies, products can be ordered fragrance-free.

Foaming Bath Scrub in Lime Sugar Supreme can be purchased for $6.50 for 4 oz. Believe me, it’s worth every penny and then some!

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know women have been enhancing their lashes since around 3400 BC?

Here are just a few of the “great lengths” ladies went through to pretty up their peepers:

~3400 BC: Egyptians used kohl mixtures of crocodile dung, honey and water. This was then applied with sticks made of glass, bones or wood.

~1834: Women of this era used ashes created by holding a pan over an open flame.

~1880s: Light lashes were made darker by brushing on an extract made from walnut hulls.

~1920s: Max Factor created a wax which was heated over a hot flame. This was combed through lashes and fake ones were then applied.

~1930s: Lash dyes were all the rage, but it contained a hair-dye ingredient which left a few blind.

So, a big THANK YOU is in order to all the mascara pioneers who came before us! Amazing what we’ll do for beauty!
