HIDDEN GEMS

Suave Tropical Coconut shampoo and conditioner keep your hair beautiful for less. This line is free of dimethicone ,which means no build-up to weigh hair down. I’ve been using the conditioner as a leave-in for years on my curls. The result is shiny, bouncy, frizz-free hair.

Both the shampoo and conditioner in this line work beautifully on all hair types, from thin to coarse and anything in-between. The coconut scent penetrates the hair and lasts all day. Honey and Vitamin E help to moisturize and strengthen hair naturally.

Suave Tropical Coconut shampoo and conditioner retail for $1-$2 depending on size.

In Between the Sheets

DHC’s Q10 Facial Film Soap puts a powerful antioxidant in the palm of your hand. This unique face soap comes as a transparent sheet, which transforms into a high-lather facial soap once water is added.

Coenzyme Q10 helps battle aging by repairing damaged skin cells and is said to improve collagen and elastin formation. Although this soap is high-lather, it won’t strip skin while removing oil and makeup. Paper-thin packaging makes this facial soap ideal for travel or just to have on hand in your purse.

DHC’s Q10 Facial Film Soap is currently on sale for $7 for a pack of 40 sheets, through 9-30.

Ace of Base

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Hidden way in the corner of the Ulta eyeshadow display is my new holy grail base (why they have this mixed in with the eyeshadows is a mystery to me). This beige base is a tad bit creamier than Loreal’s De-Crease, which was almost a turn-off for me. To my surprise it dried very quickly on the lid, leaving a matte finish behind. I’ve been using this base for the past month in very humid weather and the results are phenomenal.

Ulta’s eyeshadow base is the same size as their regular shadows, which is more economical than Loreal’s De-Crease. I am preferring the pan-size since I will be able to finish it all (De-Crease’s packaging makes this virtually impossible). This base soaks up any oil on lids and works well under pressed or mineral shadows.

Ulta’s eyeshadow base (along with all Ulta eyeshadows) is buy 1, get 1 free through 8-23.

Bling-Bling, Baby!

I’m fast becoming addicted to Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics (as is my teen, who is snagging it from me constantly)! Their Bejeweled Eye Shadow sets are my newest fetish. The top of this compact is covered in pink “jewels”, while the rest of the package is sleek black. The lid opens to reveal a full-size mirror.

Each of the 4 compacts holds a quad of bold, pigmented shadows. The shadows have either a shimmer or glitter effect depending on which compact you choose. These colors work well applied wet or dry and last all day with no creasing.

Makeup Masala is giving away 2 Bejeweled eyeshadow compacts! Leave a comment and state which compact you would like to win (set 1 or 2). 2 readers will be chosen Wed, 8-6 and readers from all countries are invited to participate!

Knock-off Heaven

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Although I own more spray perfumes than I care to mention, my favorite form of scent is a roll-on oil. Body oils moisturize the skin and last much longer than traditional sprays. The Common Scents has practically every scent you can think of, from top-notch designer fragrances to Downy fabric softener!

The Common Scents has over 300 fragrances for women and over 150 for men. Fragrances come in various sizes and can also be purchased as lotions, body washes, shampoo, and even incense sticks. All fragrances are true to the original scent. Processing time averages 1-2 days and shipping is very fast.

1/3oz roll-ons (about the size of a lipstick) are currently on sale for $1.29 each.
