MINERAL MAYHEM

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Ocean Mist Cosmetics is one of the few companies I’ve found that will let you sample their minerals before you buy. Their free (pay S/H) sampler kit comes with your choice of 3 foundation shades, a blush/bronzer, a finishing powder and a concealer. These are not sample baggies either! The samples are packed into 5 gram jars and are generous enough for several applications.

Ocean Mist Cosmetics also carries mineral eyeshadows and they are very impressive. My favorite shade is Golden Pearl which reminds me of MAC’s Ricepaper when applied. All minerals are available in full, travel and sample sizes. Shipping costs are very reasonable and international shipping is also available.

You Know You’ve Been Wanting It

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

I’m talking about the new Avon Marimekko Eyeshadow Palettes, silly! Fellow bloggers everywhere have been snatching these palettes up like crazy. So, Makeup Masala is giving you the chance to get your pretty paws on one too!

The texture of these palettes is so silky and beautiful, you almost won’t want to use them! Each color is separated by plastic, so there’s no worry of blending the different shades all together.
Try mixing the shadows from both palettes for endless color combinations!

Leave any comment to be entered to win the Poppy Bouquet Palette with a dual-ended eyeshadow brush. 1 winner will be chosen Thursday, October 23rd at 10:00pm CST. Readers from all countries are invited to participate!

THE SAME 5 QUESTIONS

Monday, October 20th, 2008

My laptop will soon be in need of some serious repair. Thanks to my constant drooling on it while checking out the Nailphile everyday! The site’s creator Siobhan, hails from the Windy City like myself and her nail art is some of the best out there! With large, beautiful photos and detailed descriptions of products used, Siobhan will have you running out to buy everything she recommends. Get to know more about Siobhan, one of my favorite beauty bloggers…

MM: Your purse is stolen. What beauty item will you replace first?

Siobhan: I would replace my glass nail file first. Since I discovered a glass file about a year ago, I haven’t had a single split or peel in my nails, so that’s a must-have for me.

MM: What high-end beauty product are you saving your pennies for?

Siobhan: I save my pennies for Chanel & Dior nail polishes. They don’t come cheap, but they have my heart!

MM: What one hair product can you not live without?

Siobhan: I can’t live without (or at least go out in public without!) Biosilk Smoothing Solution. I have a very thick and curly long hair, and so I’m a big poofball without my Biosilk. I actually always have backup bottles of it on hand so I never run out!

MM: What color polish is on your toes right now?

Siobhan: I’m wearing Sally Hansen Salon’s Raven’s Wing.

MM: What was your inspiration to blog?

Siobhan: I participate in a ladies’ message board about nail care, and I started to feel like I was board-hogging some days posting pictures. I decided to start the blog so I wouldn’t board-hog, and it ended up taking on a life of its own very quickly. I’ve made several contacts that I really enjoy as a result, and I look forward to each post now. I never thought blogging would be either as much fun as it is or feel like as much of an obligation to deliver a good post to me readers. It’s more work than I thought it would be, but I love every minute of it!

Thank you Siobhan!

HIDDEN GEMS

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Anti-aging products aren’t just for the face anymore. Many companies are releasing lines to keep hands and body youthful-looking, using some of the same ingredients in facial products. Blistex has introduced their new Deep Renewal lip treatment which rejuvenates lips with Coenzyme Q-10 and Hyaluronic filling spheres.

With its light citrus taste and smooth formula, this has quickly become one of my favorites. After faithfully using this treatment for the past few weeks, there really is a noticeable glow and softness to my lips. SPF15 is another added plus to this balm, since the thinner skin on lips needs extra protection from the sun.

Blistex Deep Renewal retails for $4 or less at most locations.

Lil’ Ms. Perfect

Avon’s Eye Perfector gives an instant lift to tired, puffy eyes. It’s gel-like formula absorbs well into the delicate eye area and the results can be seen and felt within minutes. I recommend gel eye treatments because they are less likely to clog pores in the eye area, which leads to those nasty, white bumps (milia).

Try keeping this treatment in the fridge for a refreshing, cooling treat on hot days! This is also the ideal product for those whose eyes become puffy from allergies. Even if you’re not yet at the age for starting wrinkle prevention, this product is a must-have for combating undereye circles and bagginess under the eyes.

Leave a comment and tell us which eye color you envy, Hazel, green, maybe blue? 1 lucky winner will be chosen Friday, October 17th at 10:00pm CST to win this product. Readers from all countries are invited to participate!

My Main Tweeze

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

If you’re anything like me, you probably have a mini-stash of tweezers you’ve picked up along the way. Well, product-gluttony is never a bad thing in my book, so let me introduce you to one of my favorites!

E.L.F.’s Slanted Tweezer is made of sturdy stainless steel, which helps to provide a firm grip. The sharp edges are perfect for grabbing medium to thick hairs in one shot. I’ve been using the same pair for almost a year now, with no loss in sharpness or precision.

E.L.F.’s Slanted Tweezer is $1.00 at eyeslipsface.com or selected retailers.

In need of a good tweezin’? Tell us if you do your brows yourself or pay someone to do them for you! 4 lucky readers will be chosen Friday, October 17th at 10:00pm CST to win these tweezers. Readers from all countries are invited to partcipate!

Fighting Cancer…One Shower At a Time

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Some women let nothing get them down, including breast cancer. New York cartoonist Marisa Acocella Marchetto proves that laughter really is the best medicine. Her book Cancer Vixen , chronicles her bout with breast cancer in a mostly humorous, sometimes heart-wrenching manner. Wearing hot shoes to chemo sessions? Definitely a fashion DO!

Marisa has paired with C.O. Bigelow , to bring us the Limited Edition Cancer Vixen product line. Infused with the scent of wild berries, these products moisturize skin with the help of aloe vera and natural humectants. C.O. Bigelow will donate $250,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation from the proceeds of this collection. My favorite item is the Body Cleanser which is high-lather, yet moisturizing.

The Limited Edition Cancer Vixen product line is currently Buy One, Get One Free at Bath and Body Works!

Makeup Masala is giving a Cancer Vixen Body Wash to 1 lucky reader! Just leave any comment to be entered. Winner will be chosen Friday, October 17th at 10:00pm CST. Readers from all countries are invited to participate!
