Bright Eyes

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

It’s good to break free from the makeup-norm once in awhile and go totally wild with a vibrant look.  Cuberry Cosmetics offers bold minerals that are definitely not for the faint-at-heart.  I’m also loving their fierceLASH eyelashes, which come in an array of colors and are good for up to 30 uses.  Cuberry Cosmetics also has a great selection of lip balms, beauty tools and more!

The two eyeshadow trios shown above are a steal at $13 (prices range from $4.70-$9.70 regular price) for a limited time.

HIDDEN GEMS

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Smooth ‘N Shine Extra Hold Conditioning Gel provides extra hold and extra shine without the damaging effects of alcohol. It defines curls when applied to damp hair or smooths the hair when blown straight. This gel is easily removed from hair, since there is no added wax or grease to create dulling build-up. A little dab’ll do ya, so the 6oz. size lasts a surprisingly long time!

Smooth ‘N Shine Extra Hold Conditioning Gel can be found for $3.50 or less at most retailers.

Aveda Revisited

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Although I love my drugstore products, there are quite a few brands I have no qualms laying down a few extra bucks for. I’ve long been a fan of Aveda (I can’t get enough of their Brilliant Humectant Pomade), but I admit I haven’t frequented their store as much as I used to. Aveda’s Dry Remedy line continues the high-standard of quality Aveda is known for.

Aveda’s Dry Remedy line INSTANTLY revives hair with its Deep-Moisture Complex and imparts shine with the help of pomegranate and buruti oil. The shampoo, conditioner and treatment masque, all smooth hair without weighing it down. I’ve noticed in just one week, my curls need less styling products to keep them frizz-free. This “Remedy” is just what the hair-doctor ordered!

Aveda’s Dry Remedy line can be purchased as a set for $74 (with a free treatment comb) or individually for $24-$42, depending on size.

THE SAME 5 QUESTIONS

For those who follow beauty blogs religiously, Clumps of Mascara is probably one of your favorites! Brittany, the editor-in-chief, delivers each review with a touch of humor and a wealth of knowledge. When I first began blogging, Brittany was among the few who emailed me to say “Welcome”. In this world of blogging, an outstretched hand is always valued and much-appreciated! Get to know more about Brittany, one of my favorite beauty bloggers…

MM: Your purse is stolen. What beauty item will you replace first?

BRITTANY: A good lip balm. Doesn’t matter who it’s by but I tend to get dry lippies and have to keep them moisturized at all times.

MM: What high-end beauty product are you saving your pennies for?

BRITTANY: Lancome’s Oscillation mascara. It’s a $34! Yikes! A bit steep for a mascara but I’m a mascara junkie and this baby here looks like it may really blow my socks off.

MM: What one hair product can you not live without?

BRITTANY: Jojoba oil. My hair loves this stuff. It’s great for moisturizing and doesn’t have an overpowering smell. Loves it!

MM: What color polish is on your toes right now?

BRITTANY: Sinful Color’s San Francisco; a vampy emerald green. Perfect for fall!

MM: What was your inspiration to blog?

BRITTANY: To be honest, I didn’t have one. I just felt like logging my venture into make-up. I didn’t even know that beauty blogging was so big. But NOW my inspiration is to help other ladies who are “new” to make-up and beauty. I like introducing new concepts (eyeshadow as a blush, who would have thought?) and letting ladies know that it’s okay to break the rules. We can define beauty for ourselves!

Thank you Brittany!

MINERAL MAYHEM

The She Space has released a quite a few new items over the past few weeks! So, if it’s been awhile, hop on over to the site and get the credit card ready! I gravitate towards more earth-toned colors when cold weather arrives, so I grabbed a few baggies of the new Autumn 2008 (limited addition) collection.

Don’t let the pics fool you! The one thing I love most about The She Space pigments is their ability to take on different hues when applied. So, if some of these seem similar in color, trust me, they are all completely different and gorgeous!

Limited Edition individual samples are 50 cents.

The Full Collection in sample size is $14.00.
Three gram jars are $4.50.
The Full collection of all 30 shades is $125.00

The winter winds will soon be rolling through to my little corner of the world and it always wrecks havoc on my skin! Itchy, dried-out skin can be prevented with a little extra TLC and a quality moisturizer to create a barrier.

Avon’s Skin So Soft Winter Soft with Hydroseal line (must log into an Avon account to view) seals out harsh winter elements and increases skin’s moisture content by 380%. The Hand Cream contains jojoba oil and shea butter, while the Intense Concentrate (ideal for body use) sloughs away flakes with the help of alpha hydroxy acids. The powdery-fresh scent is soft and feminine and no greasy residue is left behind.

Tell us what you love or hate most about winter! One lucky reader will win the trio shown above (2 hand creams and 1 Intense concentrate). Winner will be chosen Thursday, November 6th at 10:00pm CST. Readers from all countries are invited to participate!
