Kissing Cousins

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Stepping inside Gilly Hicks is an experience within itself.  Nabbed as the “cheeky cousin to Abercrombie & Fitch”, the colonial, beach house theme is decked with chandeliers, fireplaces and antique furniture.  The lighting is kept to a bare minimum and there are hidden rooms around every corner.  The merchandise consists mainly of underwear and pajamas, but the draw for me was the “Living Room” section which held an array of bath and body products.

Gilly Hicks recently added an extensive line of luscious lip care products.  The display is mesmerizing, with lip glosses, balms and liquid lipstick, all arranged by colors. The lip care line comes in unusual shades such as green, blue and yellow, all of which go on either sheer, shimmery or glittery.  Normal colors are also offered in shades of reds, peaches, golds and silvers.  The gloss shown above, Peach Crisp, smells and tastes exactly like fresh, juicy peaches.  So far, there are only a handful of Gilly Hicks open in the States, but it’s definitely worth the road trip.

TOMA ASKS

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Hidden Gems has been cast aside this week due to a question I received a few days ago.  Bella from Café Beautique inquired on what beauty items I use for my eyebrows.  Well, there was dead silence on my end of the internet as I thought this over.  Besides the weekly make-out sessions with the wax or tweezers, my brows are pretty virginal.

Now I know many of you lovely readers are an expert in this area, so I’m hoping you’ll lend some advice to Bella (and me!).  What are your favorite tools?  Do you bleach or color?  Use pencil or powder?  Let us know!

Yes, I Watch Hannah Montana…And?

Monday, December 8th, 2008

C’mon, I know I’m not the only one who’s been sucked into watching an episode or two of Hanna Montana.  When the Mr. (he actually records it!?) and Jr. Masala have it on, I find myself laughing right along with them!

Avon has released a Hanna Montana bath and body line just for your little diva-in-training. The products are scented with hints of vanilla and apple, perfect for little girls.  The gentle aloe vera and vitamin E formula won’t irritate young skin.  All products are very reasonably priced at $0.99-$3.99.

What are the little ones in your life asking for this Christmas?  Leave a comment to win the set shown above (2-in-1 shampoo, shower gel, 2 hand creams and 2 lip balms).  Winner will be chosen Thursday, December 11th at 10:00pm CST.  Readers from all countries are invited to participate!
