THE SAME 5 QUESTIONS

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

I love a good nail blog and Brooke from Getcha Nails Did covers just about every nail polish brand out there. I knew the girl had talent when she made her beautiful Nail Polish Roses for Valentine’s Day.  When you visit her site, make sure to check out all of her cool Konad designs!   Get to know more about Brooke, one of my favorite beauty bloggers…

MM: Your purse is stolen. What beauty item will you replace first?

BROOKE: I actually don’t always carry a purse, I have a messenger bag that I usually carry because I haul nail polish around with me!  So I would have to replace my nail polish for sure!

MM:  What high-end beauty product are you saving your pennies for?

BROOKE: I would really love to get one of those nail polish desk/stations that are used in nail salons.  I have even checked on ebay for one, unfortunately I don’t have the room for one now, but when I do I am sure I will be saving up to get me one.  I have an idea for a “salon” room I want to do.

MM: What one hair product can you not live without?

BROOKE: My straightening iron.  I have naturally curly hair, that if left to air dry ends up frizzy instead of curly or straight.  I have always been envious of girls who can just let their hair dry naturally and look great.

MM: What color polish is on your toes right now?

BROOKE: Misa – Cherry Topping

MM: What was your inspiration to blog?

BROOKE: I have always had a love of nail polish for as long as I can remember..  I stumbled on All Lacquered Up first and it went down hill from there, I was on the search to find as many nail polish blogs as I could.  I was wearing acrylic nails at the time and I noticed that I couldn’t find a single nail polish blog with fake nails and very few with nail art (this was pre konad craze)!  I was actually shocked to find out how many girls disliked acrylic nails, too.  So I originally started my blog for those interested in doing your own acrylic nails and nail art.  I figured if I liked those things there had to be other girls out there interested in the same things.  Of course my blog now is about so much more, but that’s what inspired me to start mine.  I still can’t believe how interesting it is to me and lots of other girls out there to look at pictures of painted nails!

As a side note, I wanted to add that even though I am trying to grow my own nails out, I am still a fan of the acrylics :)

Thank you Brooke!

Dermatologists everywhere hand out tubes of Aquaphor like it was candy.  There’s nothing this ointment can’t do.  Perfect for use any season of the year, it heals sunburns, soothes cuts and cures chapped lips.  It’s also ideal for use on dry, cracking heels, elbows and knees.  If chemical peels and microdermabrasion leave you with flaky spots, just a dab of Aquaphor helps to accelerate healing.  Because of it’s non-irritating formula, Aquaphor can be used on skin of all ages.

Certain sizes of Aquaphor can be found for $5 or less at many drugstores, Walmart or Target.

    HELPING IS BEAUTIFUL

    Thursday, April 16th, 2009

The Fresh Air Fund is a program which provides memorable summer experiences for inner-city children.  These experiences are provided by people who open their homes and hearts for two weeks or more throughout the summer.  Children who otherwise would spend the summer in the city, can now enjoy swimming, hiking, fishing and camping in the country and suburbs.

Since 1877, The Fresh Air Fund has depended on donations and help from hosts who volunteer their homes.  To help make a difference, please visit the Fresh Air Fund website.  If funds are low and donating is not an option, volunteers are also needed and welcomed.

The checkout counter at Sally Beauty Supply always holds an array of beauty goodness.  It never fails that I end up throwing extra items into my pile as I’m checking out!  My latest find is California Mango’s Mango Mend.  This wonderfully-scent balm is all-purpose and can be used to heal sunburn, treat scars and soften rough calluses.  It also works great to smooth hair and prevent fly-aways.  Made with all-natural ingredients such as Jojoba, Mango Seed, Vitamin E, Aloe and Mango Butter, this balm protects and treats skin with immediate results.  Mango Mend can also be found in many salons and day spas.
