Hard As Nails Week: Tough Luck

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Sally Hansen, you’ve really outdone yourself revamping your Hard As Nails line!  Tough Luck is my absolute favorite of the new shades.  A frosty apple green?  Yes please!  This one shimmers and shines with the tiniest touch of gold and I really believe this is a green any skin tone could pull off.  Application was perfect, with not a single issue.  I think longer brushes are easier to handle and it seems only the more expensive polishes have this feature.  So, I’m glad to see an affordable line, that truly is salon quality.  Grab this one!

Hard As Nails Week: Hard To Get

Monday, May 30th, 2011

If you’re looking for a bright, summer orange (which is affordable!) look no further than Hard To Get.  This vibrant orange, frosty-shimmer is the second polish for Hard As Nails Week and I can’t wait to wear this one as a pedi!  Although the indoor pic doesn’t show it too well, there is a slight golden glow to this orange which reminds me of a summer sunset.  Perfectly opaque in 2 coats and for a frost, it showed very little brush-strokes in the finish (a frost pet-peeve of mine).  A great, new polish at an even greater deal of $1.99!

Hard As Nails Week: On the Rocks

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

Sally Hansen has released an entirely new collection of their Hard As Nails line and over the course of the week, I’ll be showing off some of my favorites for you!  First up is the lovely On the Rocks. I couldn’t decide if this shade was a pink or a lavender, but either way it’s a beauty.  This glass-flecked polish glistens and shimmers in any lighting and did not budge for DAYS!  I was able to wear this for 4 days with not one chip at all.  3 coats are shown above, as this is a very, very sheer polish.  I love the longer brush on these new polishes and it made for very easy application.  Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Hard As Nails review!

Pure Ice: Free Spirit

Saturday, May 28th, 2011

This gloomy Chicago day requires some brightening up, so it’s Pure Ice’s Free Spirit to the rescue!  This grass-green shade has just the tiniest hint of shimmer, so a topcoat was all it took to bring it out.  There was a little streaking with the second coat (I usually have that problem with the first).  This is a unique shade in my huge stash of green polishes and I already have a water marble idea in mind for this beauty (would be very pretty with white, no?).  Enjoy your Saturday!

Essence: Choose Me!

Friday, May 27th, 2011

My local Ulta has updated their stock of Essence products and Choose Me! is one of the gems I picked up recently.  This glass-flecked polish shimmers and shines like no other and is a tinge more green in real life.  2 coats are shown above and wear for me was about 2 days.  Not too bad, since I’m really rough on my hands.  This shade definitely attracted a lot of compliments from strangers, as the gold literally bounces off your nails.  Love the cute little bottles, love the 99 cents price tag even more!

Ruby Kisses: Teal Envy

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

I finally was able to track down a few Ruby Kisses polishes (hard for me find in my part of Chicago).  While overall I do love these polishes, I will warn you that they do stink to high heaven and back!  Stinkiness aside, Teal Envy is a bright, vibrant creme with minimal streaking.  2 coats are shown here, which is very good coverage for cremes, since they like to misbehave on me.  Due to the thickness of this polish, I think it would be ideal for stamping (imagine how pretty over a white creme!)  Any Ruby Kisses polishes in your collection?
